Jolly Good Show

So, it's been a while - partly because I was without a camera, and what fun is blogging without photos? and partly because its summertime and we have  been out of town a lot.

Here is some of what I've been doing this summer.  Within the last 2 weeks I have seen some good shows.  The first was Wicked.  Thanks to my mom's friend Kay, Sheri and I got to go with my mom and dad to see this show.  I've been wanting to see it for a while, and I was not disappointed.  It was awesome.  My only regret is not having Joe there.  He would have absolutely loved it.  No flash photography was allowed during the show, but I got this one shot before the show started.  That dragon alone would have been enough for Joe.  He would have loved the flying monkeys too.  Next time it comes around he is going with me for sure.

The next day, Joe and I went and saw Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.  I thought it was excellent.  I've stopped comparing the movies to the books, because if you do that you will ALWAYS be disappointed, but I really enjoyed it anyway.  I get that they have to condense the book and leave things out, but why do they feel that they have to add or change things?  The book is great the way it is.  That being said, I was very entertained.  I am now going back to read book 6 again.  Can't wait for movie 7 (or I should say "movies" 7).

The next day it was off to San Diego to see Coldplay.  Brian and I just saw them in November and it was an awesome show.  This time was a little more exciting because we brought Joe with us.  It was his very first concert and it was in San Diego, outdoors.  What could be better?  I remember my first concert.  It was New Order and it was awesome.  Anyway, it was fun to see Joe's reaction.  He loved every minute of it.  We had pretty good seats.  They had huge screens that you could watch, but Joe was confused by that:  "Why would you watch the screen, when you can look at them on stage for real?"  I totally agree.  I love seeing bands live.  Coldplay puts on a good show.  It was a lot like the show in November, only they were on stage a little longer.  They mixed the set list up a little bit, and they added "Green Eyes" which I was happy about.  They also sang "Billy Jean" as a tribute to Michael Jackson, which I was a little nervous about at first, but I think Chris Martin really pulled it off.  There was this kid behind us, maybe 9 or 10 that sang the words to every song, even the more obscure ones.  He was having the time of his life.  Joe also came away with his first concert t-shirt.  If he is anything like me, it will be the first of many.  The only crappy part was the parking.  It was a nightmare.  It took us an hour to get out of there.  Still worth it though.

Lastly, and of course, I haven't seen this yet, but I am super excited about it - I got my tickets today to see the season 5 tour of "So You Think You Can Dance".   Although I have to say Ticketmaster is a joke.  They totally suck.  It was a nightmare trying to get tickets.
Even though I was sorely disappointed in last weeks results of the show - enough to make me almost stop watching (I said ALMOST).  America is stupid.  Jason and Janette BOTH were wrong choices to go home.  I voted for Jason like 200 times - what is up?  His zombie dance was freaking awesome.  And that's all I have to say about that.

Anyway - more photos from the summer later on.

SEE YA!

I thought the movie seemed a little slow and was rather anti climatic. It had some funny parts but I thought missed a lot of key epxlainations to understand the series as a whole.

I'm so glad you are back. I wish I would've given you $ to get me a Coldplay t-shirt. They are one of my favorite bands.

I can't wait for the SYTYCD tour either. And while Janette and Jason didn't deserve to go home I wasn't too bummed because I don't want either of them to win.

Wow Kim! You need to take blogging breaks every now and then - when you come back, you come back strong! That was a lot of emotion in one post!!

Wow, you have been one busy girl! It sounds like such a fun summer in your house!

I totally agree with movies and books. I can't stand watching a movie after I have read the book because it just never delivers the way I want it too.

I also have comments on Coldplay, but will bite my tongue as I don't want to set off your husband.

Welcome back to blogging. We missed you.

Yeah, I could comment about how I don't get the popularity of Coldplay. I could comment that although they aren't bad they are really no more than elevator music...something unexciting that you have playing as background music...I could do that, but again, I don't want to upset anyone.

Sorry Kim; I couldn't resist. I'll understand if you delete me!

I would delete you but I won't. You are entitled to your misguided opinions. Just chalk it up to you being old and not understanding good music.

I don't delete people for their opinions. We are all entitled to them.

Your comments about SYTYCD totally made me chuckle. I have never watched the show in my life until this summer when I visited my sisters-in-law. One of my SILs had the entire season recorded and I think we fast forwarded through all of them in 90 minutes. I missed the Zombie dance though.
